Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company operates a Tay Ninh Province-based sugar factory capable of processing 3,500 tonnes of sugarcanes a day collected from an over 1,000-ha farm complex in the province. After sugarcanes are squeezed, their dregs are transformed into organic fertilizer to fatten the ground for new sugar crops.
In past years, the company invested in bringing sugarcanes to lowland areas, replacing unproductive rice areas with sugarcanes and building irrigation and traffic systems for the material farm. To date, the lowland sugarcane area accounts for more than 80 per cent of the total cultivation area of the company.
The company has developed nearly 100 ha of farms growing more than 10 species of sugarcanes imported from China, Taiwan, Thailand and other countries. The firm also conducted experiments and researches on intensive cultivation processes to produce disease-free, productive and high-quality varieties.
In the 2005-2006 crop, Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company increased investment for farmers by 30% to VND80.1 billion (US$5 million) to plant sugarcanes on 8,950-ha farming areas, with support of new varieties, infrastructure improvement, cheap strain supply, fertiliser sources, irrigation, harvesting and transportation. Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company also applies the ISO9001:2000 quality management standard system to from production to business as well as observes all environment protection regulations. At present, the company has more than 200 sales agents in many provinces stretching from the north to the south. Notably, the company has key agents in major localities such as Hanoi, Danang City, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City.
In the coming time, Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company will carry out its “Van Co Dong river western bank industrial processing project” with two phases as follows:
Phase 1: Assembling machinery for processing 2,500 tonnes of sugarcane a day
Phase 2: Raising the capacity to 6,000 tonnes a day
- Building an alcohol production factory with a daily output of 40,000 litres
- Building an animal feed workshop capable of producing 100 tonnes a day
- Building an organic fertiliser production plant capable of producing 200 tonnes a day
The establishment of such projects will have positive effects on the livelihood of the local residents by creating jobs and improving the rural infrastructure system. The development policy of the company always complies with the agricultural development orientation; thus, raising its budgetary contributions to State coffers. At the same time, Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company’s production scale expansion is also affirming its top position, steadily moving forward toward integration. All deeds are for the consumers and for the “Vietnamese high quality goods” title.
