Vietnam Business Association (VBA) was set up in the US under the initiative of several oversea Vietnamese or Viet Kieu, and businesses in the US, on the occasion of Vietnam’s joining of the WTO.

The VBA, with the participation of US enterprises and lawyers, is aimed to help Vietnamese and American firms seek business and investment opportunity, said the VBA Project founder and the director Nguyen Khanh.

It will also support Vietnamese small- and medium-size enterprises in integrating into the world economy in the WTO period.

Khanh said the association will act as a bridge to introduce Vietnamese enterprises in various sectors to those in the US.

He emphasized that small Vietnamese businesses should not hesitate to cooperate with the US side as many US companies are more interested in partners’ conforming to the contract requirements than in their operation scale.

In the forthcoming time, the VBA will join hands with Western Link Group to bring Vietnam-made goods to the US market. The US partner has had much experience in helping China-made and India-made goods penetrate the US market.

Western Link Group, with a very wide distribution network and storage system throughout the US, is keen on Vietnam-made goods and Vietnamese enterprises, which will help Vietnamese companies to sell their products in the US. The group has been bringing Vietnam-made products to the US market, but in an indirect way. Now, it is willing to directly contact Vietnamese firms, Mr. Khanh revealed.

Through Western Link Group, several Vietnamese businesses have been successfully exporting their products to the US market. Besides, they will be able to contact other distributors and importers in the US via the group.

According to Mr Khanh, US companies were looking to import many kinds of Vietnam-made products, like fine arts products, apparel, footwear and food.

He called for more Vietnamese enterprises to join in the association’s website www.vietnamba.com to make it become an official information channel for promoting Vietnam-US economic ties.

US investment into Vietnam may double next year from this year’s figure of $4 billion, local media quoted US Ambassador Michael Marine saying at a press conference on Vietnam-US relations in Hanoi in December last year.

The US is expected to be the most promising investor in Vietnam in the time to come. (Vietnamnet)
