WB Pledges Huge Funding for Vietnammâ€s Transport Upgrade

The World Bank (WB) has agreed to lend Vietnam US$120-180 million in ODA to improve the transport system in the northern city of Haiphong, state-controlled newspaper Vietnam Economic Times reported Friday.
 
The three-part project includes building 25km of Belt Road No.3 in the city, enhancing the capacity of public transport and improving the management capability of urban transport state agencies.
 
During the October working session with municipal authorities, WB advanced a US$250,000 credit for the project survey.
 
In related news, the WB has early this year agreed to finance US$1 million to improve road sections for pedestrians and non-motor vehicles in the on Nguyen Trai, Tay Son, Ton Duc Thang, Giai Phong, Dai Co Viet, Hue streets and several traffic routes in the Ancient Quarter.
