ACCA - VACPA 2006 Annual Convention
On the January 24, 07, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) celebrated the 10 year anniversary of its first course in Vietnam, and the 1 year anniversary of the cooperation between ACCA and the Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants (VACPA). ACCA’s ten years of success in Vietnam contributed significantly to the “internationalization” of Vietnamese auditing standards. To date, 1,323 students have studied in ACCA’s programmes, of whom 202 have graduated with international certification. These new professionals represent significant progress towards the goal of having 1,000 – 1,500 auditors by 2010 with 30 per cent of those holding international professional certification. With the opening of the ACCA office in Ho Chi Minh City in 2002, the number of ACCA’s students has continually increased to its present level of 1.300. Evaluating the successes of the cooperation between ACCA and VACPA, Vice Minister of Ministry of Finance Tran Van Ta says: “The development of auditing and accounting in Vietnam in the past years has received support from both local and international associations, especially ACCA, to improve the qualification of Vietnamese accountants and auditors. VACPA has also had a critical developmental role in building professional associations with international standards.
