PM Okays Mekong Delta's US$312Mln Infrastructure Project
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a project to develop waterways and road networks in the Mekong River Delta region with total investment of $312 million to help cut transport frees for exports and boost socioeconomic development.
The money will come from World Bank soft loans and non-refundable aid from the Australian government.
The project is divided into four parts, based on surveys conducted in 13 provinces in the region.
The transport ministry is named the project developer.
PM Dung asked relevant ministries and local authorities to complete the project, ordering the State Bank of Vietnam to fulfill all procedures before conducting credit agreements with WB and the Australian government.
Provincial authorities are also required to do site clearance work. (Vietnam Economic Times)
