Vietnam Government Pays more Attention to IBM's Operation

At the end of April 2007, Nguyen Tan Dung, the Prime Minister, visited the global delivery Center GDC) of IBM, based in technical software area of Ho Chi Minh National University in Thu Duc district.
IBM now has established three more global centers in Vietnam including the Global Delivery Center (GDC) focusing on software development projects for overseas customers, the Global Procurement Services Group (GPSG) focusing on partnering with Vietnamese software companies to develop software projects for IBM's overseas subsidiaries, and the Vietnam Procurement Center focusing on seeking and selecting the best equipment and service distributors and buying them for IBM subsidiaries overseas.
 
LEE Puay Eng, General Manager of Vietnam IBM, reported to the Prime Minister the IBM expectation on the Vietnamese market, for long term development here. IBM hopes to join hands with the Vietnam government to develop technical human resources in Vietnam to meet IBM’s demands, as well as help Vietnam attract more input capital flow. Besides, IBM also shared with the Prime Minister the difficulties in the process of establishing the above centers in Vietnam, for instance, problems of transmitting cable, infrastructure and human resources, etc. The Prime Minister affirmed the government will always try it best to facilitate IBM and other foreign corporations to easily run their business in Vietnam.
 
After the visit of Nguyen Tan Dung, Lee Puay Eng said with the attention of Vietnam Prime Minister and Vietnamese people, IBM’s service centers will develop rapidly and employ more highly skilled engineers for IBM, increasing GDP of Vietnam, like what IBM has done successfully in many countries in the world. He added that he admired and was impressed by the Prime Minister’s responsiveness.
 
Since February 2007, Global Delivery Center (GDC) has been officially operating, supporting IT services in e-commerce, supporting line management, distributing and managing electronics for customers of IBM in France, Southwest Europe, and Africa.
 
Founded in 2003, Global Procurement Services Group (GPSG) spent time seeking and selecting Vietnam software companies with sufficient standard to support IBM's high quality service. These companies were conducted contracts with IBM's worldwide customers. Up to now, there have been 60 conducted plans of IBM with different scales in America, Europe and Pacific Asia, bringing millions of dollars to Vietnam software companies.
 
Operating in December 2006, Vietnam Procurement Center (VPC) is an important part of IBM’s global procurement centers, seeking and selecting the best equipment and service distributors and buying these for internal subsidiaries of IBM overseas.
