Vietnam Plans to Meet TitanOre-Processing Demand by 2010
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has just approved a titan exploration, exploitation and processing program in the 2007-2015, toward 2020 in order to satisfy the country’s titan processing demand by 2010, the Government said on its website.
Vietnam is set to fully meet the domestic demand for dioxide titan and refined powders of ilmenit and zircon by that time. The government of Vietnam also asked relevant bodies to prepare database on estimated reserve and ores that are slated for exploitation before 2020.
Currently, the reserve of titan in Vietnam including almenit ores is estimated at 34.5 million tons, the base titan ores of 9.2 million tons.
In the 2007-2015 period, Vietnam will build and expand ilmenit ore-processing factories in northern province of Thai Nguyen and central provinces of Binh Dinh and Quang Tri.
Vietnam is estimated to require VND4.3 trillion (US$267.6 million) for the plan for 2007-2025 period; VND2.139 trillion (US$133.68 million) between 2007 and 2015 and VND2.143 trillion (US$133.9 million) in 2016-2015.
