Danang to Host East-West Economic Corridor Week
Central Danang city of Vietnam will host the East-West Economic Corridor Week 2007 (EWEC 2007) and some trade, investment and tourism promotion activities from August 27 to September 1, said the Foreign Ministry Thursday.
During EWEC week, there will be many important activities, including a trade fair, investment-trade-tourism forums, cultural and sport exchanges among nations of EWEC, and caravan tours along EWEC.
The events are expected to attract ministers, mayors and enterprises of the four EWEC nations, developed economies that have close diplomatic relations with Danang, including Japan, China, Singapore, the US, and international organizations namely JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), JETRO (Japan External Trade Organisation), and ADB (Asian Development Bank).
Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem will attend the events.
The corridor has the length of 1,450 km, and goes through four countries, starting from Mawlamyine in Myanmar, crossing Thailand and Laos, before going into Vietnam, where it passes through the provinces of Quang Tri, Hue and Danang. (Vietnamese Law)
