Over 150 Japanese investors July 24 gathered for a conference introducing investment environment in Vietnam hosted by the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce, Vietnam News Agency reported.

At the conference, Japanese experts briefed the businesses on the country’s socio-economic development and investment activities.

Aikawa Seiji from the Aikawa Business Research Institute emphasized Vietnam’s comparative advantages to other regional countries like China and Thailand in terms of investment environment and costs.

The participants were also highlighted about the country’s key industries, procedures of registration for licensing a company and policies for foreign investors.

The Hanoi Office in Japan sent a representative to the event to call for Japanese investors, introducing the city’s incentives and investment costs at key economic zones.

Vietnam has become a prime candidate among Asian destinations for Japanese companies to shift their operations to; a recent Asahi weekly edition quoted Kikukawa Kogyo Co. President Yoshihiko Utsuno as saying.

Kikukawa Kogyo Company now owns a factory in China in producing distinctive stainless steel outer panels and is also famous for dozens of offices worldwide with most products made using computer-aided design (CAD).

However, the company has announced plans to move the CAD process to a new Kikykawa facility in Ho Chi Minh City. The decision was made following President Utsuno's visit to Vietnam last September, according to the paper. (Vietnam & World Economy)
