Navico Begins Construction of Biggest Catfish Processing Plant in Vietnam

Hochiminh Securities Exchange-listed Nam Viet Joint Stock Company or Naviro, the biggest seafood exporter in Vietnam, is carrying out construction of largest catfish processing factory in Vietnam, with total capacity of 700 tons a day.
 
Once this Navico’s third catfish factory is operational, it will increase the company’s total fish processing capacity to 1,200 tons a day.
 
The factory, covering 10 hectares and installed with modern technologies from EU and Japan, will employ 8,000 workers.
 
Navico plans to set up a 500 hectare catfish breeding area in An Giang province ensure sufficient materials for processing.
 
The company is expected to gain a net profit of VND321 billion or US$19.9 million in 2007.
 
Earning US$163 million from exporting over 76,000 tons of seafood to 60 countries and territories worldwide, Navico accounted for nearly 5 per cent of Vietnam’s US$3.3 billion of fish exports by 90 local exporters in 2006.
 
This year, the company is expected to export US$250 million worth of fish products, with EU, Russia and Asia being biggest importers. (Labor)
