Continuing the long-term objective of , ”Becoming a Company that Society Wants”, in the first six months of this year, Honda Vietnam (HVN) reached many achievements in production, product development, sales, export, safe driving instructions and social activities.

Efforts in Motorcycle Development
Mr Koji Onishi, General Director said that in the first half of 2007, to meet increasing demand from Vietnamese customers, HVN has introduced 3 new models to customers: Air Blade, Future Neo FI and Wave S. On the market for over 2 months, nearly 23,500 units of Air Blade and Future Neo FI have been bought by customers.

In the first six months this year, HVN has sold 500,000 units, nearly 27 per cent over the same period last year. From the launch of the first motorcycle model in 1998 to Jun 2007, more than 3,700,000 customers nationwide have chosen to buy HVN’s motorcycles. This is an achievement in building customer trust and belief in HVN.

HVN motorcycles are also highly appreciated in regional countries, such as the Philippines, Laos and Cambodia. From 2002, HVN started to export motorcycles and spare parts to other countries, becoming the first motorcycle manufacturer to export products. In the first six months this year, the company exported nearly 5,500 units of Wave Alpha to Laos and the Philippines, more than 76,000 IKD sets and nearly 107,000 parts, achieving nearly $15 million export turnover of motorcycle accessories and spare parts. Since starting export activities, the company exported nearly 186,000 units of Wave Alpha, more than 47,000 engine sets, more than 121,000 IKD sets & nearly 2 million parts with total export turnover of more than $147 million.

Leading the automobile sedan segment
Honda Civic is the first product of Honda Vietnam’s Automobile Plant. In the first six months this year, HVN has sold nearly 1,700 units, leading sales in the sedan segment. Since its launch in late Aug 2006, nearly 2,800 customers bought Honda Civics.
HVN’s Honda Civic is designed to reach the highest possible fuel saving. The i-VTEC technology and other technologies in the high capacity internal combustion engine, the precise combination among engine, gear box and light engine cover makes for outstanding fuel savings. Being the first Honda automobile produced in Vietnam, the all-new Civic meets Euro 4 emission standards (based on Honda R&D internal testing result) and effectively reduces noise by applying a new engine mount system.

Environmentally friendly
Like other Honda members in the world, HVN takes environmental protection seriously and develops environment friendly products. HVN’s environment protection activities have been conducted comprehensively in 2 main aspects, inside the factory and outside the plant.

In 2001, HVN received ISO 14001 Certificate on international standard environment management. The Company has applied the ISO 14001 environment management system comprehensively to its production with modern waste treatment systems and energy efficiency enhancement. HVN has also paid much attention to noise reduction. Currently, noise inside the plant is controlled at the level of 50 per cent of Vietnam’s standards.

The most advanced technologies have been applied by HVN with determination to minimize waste, while ensuring the economic factor on waste recycling. HVN is the first plant in Vietnam to have a modern and closed incinerator equivalent to equipment in developed countries like Italy, Japan and America. So far, recycling 600 kilograms of daily cinders to produce an additive for cement, HVN no longer buries waste and has implemented the environment policy of the company, “Usage limit - No poisonous emission to the environment”.
