Vinashin Posts US$400Mln Revenue in First Half of 2007
State-owned Vinashin Business Group reported to obtain VND6.4 trillion (US$400 million) revenue in the first six months this year, up 80 per cent on year, local media said.
Vinashin remarked significant achievements, including the construction of 105,000-ton oil tanker, floating vessels, automobile carriers, 53,000 DWT cargo freighters, and ships of 8,700 - 22,500 DWT for Japanese partners, it said.
The Vietnamese largest shipbuilder reported to obtain VND9.5 trillion (US$593.7 million) working value in the January-June period, up 58 per cent on-year, local media said.
Vinashin reported revenues of nearly VND11,500 billion (US$718.75 million) in 2006, up 44.1 per cent on year.
In 2007, Vinashin targets to raise revenues to VND18,500 billion (US$1.16 billion).
Vinashin has announced that the group won contracts worth up to US$12.3 billion to build seagoing vessels over the next few years, including roughly US$10 billion from foreign shipping firms.
Vinashin, set up in 1995, now has up to 100 affiliates in nearly 30 province and cities nationwide. (Transport)
