Vietnam-EU Joint Committee's 6th Session Opens

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Cao Viet Sinh led the Vietnamese delegation to attend the 6th session of Vietnam-EU Joint Committee, held in Belgium’s Brussels November 6.
 
At the event, Vietnam and EU reviewed the bilateral cooperation and achievements since the 5th session in Hanoi in October 2005 and jointly discussed measures for comprehensive cooperation in the near future. 
 
Both sides’ officials agreed to closely work to well prepare for the coming visit to Vietnam by European Commission Chairman Jose Manuel Barroso as well as future negotiations on a new agreement on partnership and cooperation.
 
Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Cao Viet Sinh highlighted at the meeting the great results between the two sides in recent years, essentially trade, investment and tourism ties.
 
The two-way trade between Vietnam and EU reached US$10 billion in the first ten months of this year and is expected to hit US$12 billion this year.
 
To date, EU investors have injected about US$10.5 billion into 64 FDI projects in Vietnam.
 
Sinh highly spoke of assistance agreements signed between the two sides to help Vietnam reduce poverty, boost administration reform, health, education and rural areas in the period of 2007-2013.
 
Both sides agreed that the next meeting will be held in Hanoi in 2009. (Website of CPV, Labor)
