International Aviation Transport Association (IATA) has officially extended IATA operational safety audit (OSA) for Vietnam Airlines by two years to October 28 of 2009, local media reported Wednesday.

The decision was made after IATA conducted a series of inspections on Vietnam Airlines’ aviation security standards that recognized that the Vietnam national flag carrier still meets IATA’s requirements.

Vietnam Airlines officially became IATA’s member December 4 of 2006 and received OSA after meeting eight main categories of requirements set by the association.

The audit is valid within 24 months. If any member of IATA is not unable to meet the requirements, it will be excluded. (New Hanoi)
