Vinashin Affiliate Launches 53,000 Ton Cargo Vessel
Ha Long Shipyard, an affiliate of the state-run Vinashin Group November 15 launched a 53,000-ton cargo vessel in northern Quang Ninh province, the local Kinh Te Viet Nam & The Gioi newspaper reported.
The White Diamond coded HL05 is the third unit among a series of nine vessels contracted to build between Ha Long Shipyard and the U.K. Graig group, said the source.
The dry cargo vessel was designed by Denmark's Carl Bro and constructed under supervision of Norway register agency, the press noted without mentioning about investment.
The ship is designed to meet the U.S. environmental standards and installed with many modern equipment including four cranes able to lift 36 tons of goods at a time, double deck and five cargo storages, it said.
The vessel is measured at 190 meters in length, 32.2 meters in width, 17.5 meters in height, and capacity of 9,480 kW. The main engine made from Japan has a capacity of 6,320 kW.
On the same day, Ha Long Shipyard started construction on the fourth vessel of this kind, which is set to be launched soon. (Vietnam & World Economy)
