Vinaphone, one of the three largest mobile networks in Vietnam, will complete installing another 3,000 base transmission stations (BTS) by the end of this year to achieve its target of 9,000 BTS by 2008, Vinaphone Director Hoang Trung Hai announced November 13.

Vinaphone, a subsidiary of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group, is a leading mobile phone network that has developed broad subscription and popularized its services in remote, mountainous and island areas.

The network also serves as a network for defense, security and mitigation of natural calamities.

With the launch of new services like EasyTopUp in June and VnTopup last month, Vinaphone has become the first mobile phone network that allows prepaid users to charge money through the banking system.

Vinaphone had more than two million new subscribers in the past ten months and is expected to fulfill its year’s plan of having 2.5 million subscribers in November. (VNA)
