EVN, Ha Thanh Co to Build US$2.4 Bln Power Plant in Central Vietnam
State-owned Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) and Ha Thanh Securities Company have decided to jointly invest US$2.4 billion to build a coal-fired power plant in central Quang Binh province, the Vietnam Banking Times reported December 18.
The two companies will construct a port to transport coal to feed the hoped 2,400-megawatt Hon La thermo-power plant, it noted.
The press did not specify the project’s estimated output and the time for the start.
EVN and Ha Thanh Securities Company will also join hands to construct a golf course and a five-star hotel complex in local Bao Ninh commune in the future.
EVN plans to operate seven power source projects with combined capacity of 1,488 MW in 2008.
A source from the group said that Vietnam will lack between 4.3 billion and 10.3 billion kWh of electricity from 2007 to 2009. (Vietnam Banking Times)
