Vietnam Population Spent US$44.8 billion in 2007
According to the General Statistic Office (GSO), total goods and service retail value in Vietnam reached VND726,113 billion (US$44.8 billion) in 2007, an increase of 23.3 per cent on year. In comparison with VND6.9 million in 2006, the expenditure of Vietnamese people in 2007 rose by 19 per cent.
Trade still brought in the biggest revenues of VND586,233 billion, accounting for up to 80 per cent of the country’s total retailing value. Hotel – restaurant and other service fields raked in VND86,608 billion and VND45,346 billion, respectively.
The individual economic sector kept the lead in revenue from retail services, obtaining VND407,892 billion, 56.2 per cent of total value. The private sector took the second rank, with VND209,509 billion, accounting for 28.8 per cent. Meanwhile, state-owned and foreign-invested business sectors held modest proportions below 10 per cent.
