UK Railway Specialists Seek Vietnam Partnership
A mission of UK railway experts is visiting Vietnam between June 3 and 7 to showcase British expertise in the railway sector, state media has said.
The UK Trade & Investment team will identify areas where assistance needed in Vietnamese railways and meet the requirements to the experience of British companies of UK Trade & Investment, Brecknell Willis, Invensys Rail Systems and Railway Industry Association, an official from the mission said.
The UK railway experience show how exciting new approaches can win new businesses to rail, cutting road traffic and benefiting the environment, he added.
The UK has extensive experience in the rail sector and is delivering rail projects around the world.
According to the Railway Development Strategy through 2020, approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Vietnam will need US$33 billion to build the most modern North-South backbone railway to help realize the country’s targets to become an industrialized nation by 2020.
Vietnam currently has about 3,000 kilometers of railway, which run across 35 cities and provinces with most of which being monorails faced with overload. (VNA)
