Bourbon Ben Luc Port: Gateway to Mekong Delta
The seaport system plays a crucial role in the national economic development, accelerates import and export activities and consolidates regional cooperation. A good seaport system not only supports a country’s economy, but also links it to its neighbours and the rest of the world. Vietnam’s coastline of over 3,200 kilometres and many river branches holds great potential for integrating into the world and attracting investors.
Bourbon Group started operation in Vietnam in 1995 with its sugar plant in Tay Ninh Province and became the largest French investor in Vietnam with seven projects in sugar, supermarket, logistics and infrastructure. Bourbon Ben Luc Port alone has an initial investment capital of US$2.5 million and US$2 million in the second phase. The port links to key roads from Ho Chi Minh City to Mekong Delta provinces. It is 12 kilometres southwest of Ho Chi Minh City’s Binh Chanh District. The port has an area of 13 hectares alongside National Road 1A and is located on the left bank of Vam Co Dong River, 1.5 kilometres from Ben Luc Bridge. The port pier is 100 metres long and is capable of receiving small ships.
With a favourable location, Bourbon Port connects the south-eastern and south-western region, northern Vietnam and southern Vietnam, and regions in the southern key economic zone. With a container yard covering 15,000 square metres, transhipment warehouses, bonded warehouses of 35,000 square metres, cranes with loading capacity of 60 - 80 tonnes, lifters with loading capacity of 2.5 – 10 tonnes and container carriers of 42 tonnes among others, Bourbon Ben Luc Port can handle millions of tonnes of cargo per annum. Bourbon pays high close attention to IT application to speed up cargo clearance.
Mr Tran Van Ngoc Son, Vice General Director of Bourbon, said the human factor plays a core role in the development of the company. The leadership apparatus must be scientifically and effectively organised and employees must observe working rules and be devoted to their careers. With excellent managers, skilful workers and professional services, Bourbon Port becomes a reliable address for importing and exporting companies for handling machines, steel, automobiles, cargo and containers. Bourbon Port understands that quick clearance is the best way to help clients save time and cost. Thus, the port authority stresses improving service quality.
In the coming time, Bourbon Port will become a key for the Mekong Delta region and Long An, and play an important role in developing maritime services.
