Bao Viet Securities Forecasts CPI to Rise 1.7-2 per cent in August

The consumer price index in Vietnam will rise by 1.7 per cent-2 per cent on month in August due to the pressure of gasoline price hike, Bao Viet Securities Company (BVSC) said in a seminar on macro economy on August 19.
 
The CPI will increase between 1 per cent and 1.5 per cent a month in the rest of the year, bringing the full year’s consumer price hike to 28 per cent-30 per cent, BVS said.
 
Regarding the country’s economic growth rate, the company forecast that the GDP will grow at 6 per cent in the third quarter and 5.7 per cent in the fourth quarter, compared with the expansion of 7.5 per cent in the first quarter and 5.8 per cent in the second quarter.
 
The economy will expand 6.2 per cent for the whole year.
 
BVSC maintains its viewpoint that Vietnam’s stock market key index will be around 560 at the end of 2008. (Securities Investment)
