Ha Long Co. Launches 9th 12,500-ton Cargo Ship

Ha Long Shipbuilding Co, an affiliate of the Vinashin Business Group, has successfully launched a 12,500-ton cargo ship, which will be delivered to the Dong Do Maritime JS Company soon.
 
The ship coded HL16 and named Dong Phu is the ninth among 32 ships that Ha Long Co. will build for Vietnam Shipping Lines Corp (Vinalines) under the government’s plan to develop the national ship fleet.
 
The vessel with 136.7 meters in length, 20.2 meters in width and 11.3 meters in height can travel at 13.5 nautical miles per hour.
 
The freighter, designed by Japan’s Kitada, has all of its machines and equipments provided by a Japanese company, Kanemastu.
 
Ha Long Shipbuilding Co. has set a goal to deliver at least five 53,000-ton ships this year with a total industrial production value at VND2.4 trillion (US$150 million) and revenue of VND2.3 trillion (US$143 million). (Pioneer)
