Vietnam to Halt Six Enterprises Polluting Thi Vai River
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s Inspection Team Nov 19 worked with authorities of the southern province of Dong Nai on environmental protection work on the Thi Vai River and recommended to suspend six companies dirtying the river, the Tuoi Tre newspaper said Thursday.
The polluters include Liem Chinh Enterprise, My Xuan Paper Ltd. Co., Dong Nam Fisheries Ltd. Co., Vung Tau Package Ltd.Co., Havico factory of Hai Viet Ltd.Co., and Tien Dat Seafood Ltd.Co.
During their inspection of seven industrial zones and many other companies in the area, they requested the provincial People’s Committee to fine 50 enterprises that violated the environmental regulations a total of VND1.5 billion (US$90,900).
Luong Duy Hanh, head of central Inspection Team said that the list of 50 violators was handed over to the committee and affirmed that the wastewater from 19 of those was 10 times higher than the permitted levels.
