The State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) has asked permission from the Government to sell more its stake in the low cost carrier, Jetstar Pacific, which has suffered a loss of US$55 million, local media reported.

The SCIC acquiring a 75 per cent stake in Jetstar Pacific said the airline needs between US$30 million and US$35 million to continue operation in 2009.

The corporation said to help Jetstar Pacific, it wants to sell more its stake in the airline to other investors, and only retains around 25 per cent-35 per cent.

SCIC early October this year suggested the Government allow Qantas Group to raise its stale in Jetstar Pacific to 49 per cent from current 18 per cent.

It blamed Jetstar Pacific’s huge loss for unfavorable business environment and high fuel prices. (Vietnamnet)
