Dung Quat Oil Refinery Factory Receives First Ship of Crude Oil

The ceremony to receive the first ship of crude oil for a the testing operation of Dung Quat Oil Refinery (DQR) between PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PV Oil) and DQR was recently held at in the Dung Quat economic zone, Binh Tri commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province. This is the first ship of 80,000 MT of crude oil that DQR has accepted at the SPM factory for testing.
 
The organization which supplies crude oil for DQR is PV Oil, a member of the Vietnam Petroleum Corporation (PetroVietnam) It operates according to the model of the parent company and subsidiary company. PV Oil was established upon the merge of PetroVietnam Trading Ltd Corp. (Petechim) and Petrovietnam Oil Processing and Distribution Company Limited (PDC). PV Oil aims at becoming a national leading corporation and achieving equality to regional and international corporations in the oil industry.
 
Supplying crude oil in the current operation testing phase and in the years to come and also being a consumer for DQR’s output as assigned by PetroVietnam, PV Oil has been prepared to guarantee sufficient input materials and provide a plan to consume the output product for DQR.
 
According to PetroVietnam’s plan in the testing phase, PV Oil will provide four million tones of crude oil, extracted from Bach Ho mine, for DQR and distribute a total of 3.4 million tones of products of all types for DQR. By 2010, when DQR is put into official operation with the main material source guaranteed by PV Oil, every year it will produce around 5.7 million tones of international standard petrol and oil of all types. Moreover, products of DQR will gradually replace imported products.
 
The reception of the first crude oil ship for DQR’s operation testing is of great meaning, marking a new developmental step in Vietnam’s Petroleum industry.
 
DQR is currently the first oil refinery of Vietnam with PetroVietnam as the investor. The factory is designed with a refining capacity of 6.5 million tones of crude oil per annum, SPM for ships of 80,000 – 110,000 DWT, crude oil container area with capacity of 390,000 cubic metres (equivalent to 210,000 MT) and product container area with capacity of 342,934 cubic metres. The factory has six wharves for delivering products by waterway. Ships of 1,000 – 30,000 DWT are able to approach the wharves. DQR also has 17 cranes for delivering products by road. Capacity of such cranes ranges between 700 and 1,500m3/h.
