Celebrating One Year of METRO Re-usable Bags
METRO Cash & Carry Vietnam celebrates one year of launching the METRO re-usable bag environmental initiative together with customers and suppliers on November 27, 2008 at METRO Cash & Carry An Phu in district 2, Ho Chi Minh City. Simultaneously with a nationwide extra offer promotion and discount campaign which is from 27.11 to 10.12, the company exhibits one huge re-usable bag (10.6m high, 13.06m long and 5.45m wide) to create extra awareness and inspiration of the customers and suppliers about environment protection.
“The METRO re-usable bag environment protection program is highly evaluated by the community. The promotion campaign “XTRA” and the extra sized METRO re-usable shopping bag are to express that METRO cares about the environment.”, Laurent Levan, Operations Director of METRO Cash & Carry Vietnam stated in his opening speech during the celebration event.
METRO Cash & Carry was the first company in Vietnam to replace the check out disposable plastic bags with re-usable bags. The METRO re-usable bag was introduced to METRO’s customers the first time in September 2007 when the company developed the environment protection program “Together with customers we protect the environment”. From 1st November 2007, all METRO’s customers used the METRO re-usable bags for purchasing at METRO Cash & Carry wholesale centres in Vietnam.
