The government of Czech Republic has decided to resume issuing long-term visas for Vietnamese from January 2009, a Czech diplomatic official said on Dec 31 2008.

“It will not be on January 1 already, but we reckon with it during the month to come,” by the daily Lidove Noviny (LN) cited the Czech Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Zuzana Opletalova as saying.

In mid-November, the Czech side temporarily suspended the issuing of Czech visas and long-term stay permits for the Vietnamese people due to worrying about an increase of foreigners-involved crimes in the country.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Czech Vuong Thua Phong, along with the resumption of long-term visas for Vietnamese citizens, the Czech Embassy in Hanoi would also equip a new technical system in order to improve and facilitate the visa granting process. (CPV, Young People)
