Viettel Revenue Doubles to US$2 Bln in 2008

Viettel, a leading mobile operator in Vietnam made revenues of VND33 trillion (US$2 billion) in 2008, doubling the figure of 2007.
 
The firm also reported profits of VND8.6 trillion (US$524.4 million) last year and contributed VND4.9 trillion (US$298.8 million) to the state budget.
 
In 2008, Viettel installed 8,000 new Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), raising its total BTS to 14,000.
 
Viettel also reported more than 27.4 million new subscribers, raising its total subscribers to 28 million to date.
 
The company is expected to earn revenues of between US$3 billion and US$4 billion this year. (Vietnam & World Economy)
