Vietnam-Brazil 08 Trade +65.4 per cent to US$534.59 Mln

Two-way trade between Vietnam and Brazil last year reached a high record of US$534.59 million, a sharp on-year increase of 65.4 per cent, the state-run Thoi Bao Kinh Te Viet Nam newspaper reported.
 
Of the total, Vietnam exported US$200.1 million to Brazil, up 87 per cent on-year and imported US$334.52 million, up 54.6 per cent, said the Brazilian Development, Industrial and Foreign Trade Ministry.
 
The figures mean that Vietnam incurred US$134.42 million trade deficit in 2008.
 
The country mainly imports frozen chicken products, tanned leather, wheat, timber, tobacco, steel products, wood pulp, raw cotton and beef from the Latin American country and exports sport shoes, diesel engines, coal, rubber and electronic appliances. (Vietnam Economic Times)
