Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg will pay an official visit to Vietnam from February 15-18 at the invitation of the host President Nguyen Minh Triet, the foreign ministry announced Feb 5.

This is the first Vietnam visit by Grand Duke Henri in the post of the head of state of Luxembourg.

Luxembourg is now the 4th largest EU investor in Vietnam, with 15 projects worth more than US$800 million.

However, the two-way trade between the two nations remains very modest, reaching only EUR4.18 million (US$5.34 million) by late September of last year, according to the Luxembourg Statistics Office.

Vietnam is one of only 10 countries around the world to have received ODA from the second-highest income per capita nation (2007).

Luxembourg has pledged to provide official development assistance (ODA) worth EUR50 million (US$63.9 million) for Vietnam in the 2006-10 period, with high priorities to socioeconomic development and poverty reduction in rural and mountainous areas. (Liberated Saigon)
