Japan Assures Stronger Relations with Vietnam
The Japanese government attaches a great importance to boosting its relationship with Vietnam, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Takeo Kawamura told a Vietnamese official in Tokyo Jan 16.
Speaking with the visiting Director of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations (CER) Tran Van Hang, Kawamura convey the invitation of the Japanese government to Party Chief Nong Duc Manh to pay an official visit to the country of Sunrise this year.
He also assured this year will witness many important events in the bilateral ties, including Party Chief Manh’s trip and the Japanese Prince’s visit to Vietnam scheduled for February.
“These events help lay a firm foundation for the two countries to build a strategic partnership,” Kawamura said.
Regarding economic ties, he affirmed Japan would soon ratify and implement the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with Vietnam while continuing to cooperate and give assistance to the country in such fields as infrastructure construction, science and technology, human resource training and health through ODA.
During their stay in Japan, the CPV delegation met with Chairman of the Japanese Communist Party Kazuo Shii, General Secretary of the Democratic Party of Japan Yukio Hatoyama and other high-ranking Japanese officials.
They also attended banquets hosted by Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Seiko Hashimoto and President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Federation Tsutomu Takebe and visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan .
On January 18, the delegation left Tokyo for the Japanese ancient capital of Kyoto and Osaka city to work with local leaders and businesses. (VNA, Young People, Capital Security)
