Effinville International Co. Ltd, an affiliate of Taiwan’s Foxconn, was February 18 licensed to build a US$200-million cellphone plant in northern Vinh Phuc province.

The facility, to be located in the Binh Xuyen II Industrial Park, 60 kilometers north of Hanoi, will annually make 89 million cellphones and tens of millions of cellphone parts, the agency said.

The plant, which will be the biggest of its kind in Vietnam, is scheduled to start production from the first quarter of 2010.

The project will enjoy a corporate income tax of 10 per cent a year instead of a regular tax rate of 25 per cent, through its lifespan of 50 years.
