Star, the Asian entertainment subsidiary of News Corp, has inked distribution deals with two new platforms in Vietnam as part of its expansion plans in the communist country.
Effective immediately, Star Movies, Star World and Channel [V] International will be available on Vietnam's only IPTV platform, iTV, said Star SVP distribution and marketing Gautam Kiyawat.
Also, Star Movies will launch on DTH platform, VTC, he added, revealing that the channels are currently offered on the basic tier of both platforms.
“We're excited to further expand our services in Vietnam. Vietnamese audiences have thus far given a fantastic reception to our channels, and I am confident that customers of both iTV and VTC will enjoy the films, TV series, music and lifestyle programs these channels have to offer,” said Gautam Kiyawat.
Star currently distributes eight channels - Star Movies, Star World, Channel (V) International, Star Plus, Phoenix Chinese Channel, Phoenix Infonews, Star Sports and ESPN – in Vietnam through deals with four cable operators including VCTV, Nacencomm, SCTV and HTV Choice Center. (VNBusinessNews)
