Central Quang Tri province said it has approved a road project worth a total investment capital of VND939 billion (some US$55.2 million), said the provincial People’s Committee.

The road, which links National Highway 1A to My Thuy Seaport in Hai Lang district, will be 14.2 kilometers in length.

The six-lane route will facilitate the cargo transport for My Thuy port and connects the East-West Economic Corridor to the port.

Earlier, the committee has okayed the Shipping Consultancy Joint Stock Company’s plan to develop My Thuy port. The total investment for the 913-hectare port will reach some VND20 trillion.

Separately, Malaysian Giant Group has recently submitted its proposal to the local People’s Committee to 95 kilometers of railway linking Lao Bao of shared border with Laos and Dong Ha town, the state-run Lao Dong newspaper said.

The group wants to build the railway route under the BOT (build-operate-transfer), which is part of the East-West economic corridor, according to the newspaper. (Labor)
