Endowed with cheap and diversified natural raw materials and skillfulness of artisans and workers, handicraft products made in Vietnam have long been recognized in the world market, especially in Europe and USA. The industry competitiveness is based not only on the products’ distinctiveness but also on their price. In reality, advancing handicraft industry is one of the major emphases of the Vietnamese Government in the years to come. Huge potential for this industry is beyond dispute.

Having exported handicraft products and furniture to many countries in the world as well as participated in several international fairs, Nordic Country Home is a leading expert in delivering world clients their best-choice products. According to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nhut Phuong, the Chief Representative, Nordic Country Home has been impressively overcoming challenges from the fierce competition of other countries such as China, Thailand or Indonesia by constantly supporting local suppliers with new designs, techniques and solutions. “Against the backdrop of lacking support from the government for vocational handicraft trainings and for world market information, we enhance the local suppliers’ capacity with our professional operation, expertise, and experience from years of exporting to the world market”, Mrs Phuong says.

Every product from Nordic Country Home has its own typical cultural character, reflecting a sense of simplicity and the aesthetic image. It is compulsory that all products must pass strict tests for precision, appearance and durability before shipment. “After about 10 years working in this industry in Vietnam, we are proud of the satisfaction from all of our clients. Our products made by Vietnamese artisans are now on the rise in most of the North European markets like Finland, Denmark, Norway, Estonia... Success comes from our continuous efforts in reaching products’ excellence and maintaining high credit from customers. Consequently, in 2009, we also expand to other markets like USA, Russia and Egypt”, said Mrs. Phuong.

Despite the global economic downturn, Nordic Country Home shows its confidence in weathering the crisis. Mrs Phuong however emphasizes that “to ensure the sustainable development of the industry, it is essential to have more support from government for market information, which can be done by government agencies of trade promotion or partnership of government and companies, and more support to local suppliers in sample development”.
