Rubber Group to Speed up Rubber Plantation in North Vietnam

The Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG) has decided to raise more funds for rubber companies in northwestern region in order to speed up plantation.
 
The group will raise VND500 billion for Son La Rubber JSC, and Lai Chau Rubber JSC, VND450 billion for Dien Bien Rubber JSC to and VND600 billion for Sai Gon Investment JSC.
 
In 2008, the companies grew nearly 4,000 hectares, increasing total rubber area in the region to nearly 5,000 hectares.
 
The group planned to expand the area to 10,000 hectares in 2010, with expected productivity of 1.4 tons-1.5 tons per hectare.
 
As of late 2008, Vietnam had 550,700 hectares under rubber cultivation, including more than 113,000 hectares in central highlands, 41,500 hectares in northern central region, and 6,500 hectares in southern central coastal region.
 

The country is striving to raise the acreage to 700,000 hectares in 2010. (Youth)
