Vietnam ‘08 Exports to Algeria Jumps 87 per cent to US$75.6Mln

Vietnam reportedly earned a record high of US$75.63 million from exports to Algeria last year, a sharp on-year increase of 87 per cent, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)’s trade information center.
 
Among the country’s key export items to Algeria, coffee topped the list with US$29.63 million, making up 73.2 per cent of Vietnam’s total export turnover.
 
It was followed by pepper, rice and seafood with respective earnings of US$3.16 million, US$2.48 million and US$2.44 million.
 
In 2008, the nation also spent US$1.2 million on importing raw cashew nut and wasted steel and iron from Algeria, resulting Vietnam’s huge trade surplus of US$74.43 million during the year. (vinanet.com.vn)
