Vietnam's Refined Oil Imports Down 60.2 per cent to US$1.13 Bln in Q1

Vietnam is forecast to have spent US$1.128 billion importing 2.94 million metric tons of petroleum products in the first quarter of this year, down 60.2 per cent on year in value and 17.7 per cent in volume, said the General Statistics Office (GSO).
 
In March, the Southeast Asian country is estimated to have imported one million metric tons of the product worth US$350 million, down 11.11 per cent on year in volume and 63.76 per cent in value, the office said.
 
Also according to GSO figures, the country is predicted to import an estimated 203,000 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) valued at US$112 million between January and March, and have spent US$96 million on importing other oil products.
 
Vietnam's first oil refinery Dung Quat has produced 2,000 metric tons of diesel and 1,200 tons of kerosene since becoming operational on Feb 22.
 
The US$3.1-billion refinery is expected to refine 3.5 million tons of crude oil into 2.6 million tons of petroleum products during this year. (GSO Mar 2009)
