Tan Mai Group Invests US$148.5M in 4 Giant Paper Mills

Tan Mai Paper JSC, or Tan Mai Group, has invested a total of US$148.5 million to upgrade its four giant paper mills in southern provinces.
 
The company spent US$49 million buying a paper and pulp mill in Quebec, Canada, and signed a deal worth US$99.5 million with the E.C.EURO Consult Co. to upgrade and run equipments.
 
Almost all of the funds will be for the group’s four giant paper and pulp mills, including the Tan Mai-Mien Dong Paper Mill in Long Phuoc commune, Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province with total capacity of 150,000 tons; the Tan Mai-Kon Tum Paper Mill with capacity of 130,000 tons of pulp and 200,000 tons of paper; the Tan Mai-Quang Ngai Paper Mill with capacity of 130,000 tons of pulp and 200,000 tons of paper; and the Tan Mai-Lam Dong Pulp Mill with capacity of 200,000 tons yearly.
 
Once the mills come into operation in 2010, the group’s annually total capacity will rise by 460,000 tons of pulp and 350,000 tons of paper yearly, from current 150,000 tons.
