Vietnam's Power Demand to Soar to 100 Bln kWh in 2010
Power demand of Vietnam is estimated to reach between 93 billion and 100 billion kWh with per capita in the next year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The figures will be more severe at between 200 billion and 300 billion in 2020, and between 625 billion and 766 billion in 2050.
In 2007, the average annual electricity usage per person in the Asian Southeast country was just 785 kWh, standing seventh among 11 regional nations, 40th out of 49 Asian countries, and 134th among 192 countries and territories in the world.
The rising demand for power is forecast to put the nation at risk of lacking between 6.8 billion and 62.8 billion kWh in 2015, and to be more severe at between 115 billion and 226.2 billion kWh in 2020. (VNS)
