Vietnam Prepares for First Nuclear Power Plants
The Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology April 28 held a seminar on nuclear reaction piles with participation of experts from China, Japan, U.S., and France, as part of preparation for Vietnam’s first nuclear power projects.
Addressing the seminar, experts introduced building and operating process of nuclear reaction piles in the world.
In 2013, Vietnam will kick off construction of its US$9 billion first nuclear power plants with a combined capacity of 4,000 MW in central Ninh Thuan province.
The country will spend VND2 trillion (US$117.6 million) for a nuclear science and technology training program to provide enough human sources for its first nuclear power plant by 2020. (Vietnam Economic Times)
