Minh Quang Investment Limited Company plans to put into operation a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) store in northern Haiphong port city on May 15.

Equipped with modern and advanced technology and machineries imported from Germany and China, the 2.28-hectare store is the biggest LPG base depot in northern Vietnam.

Kicked off in December 2007 in Dinh Vu industrial park, the six-basin facility costing at VND580 billion (US$34.12 million) is capable of containing 5,000 tons in 2009 and its capacity will be scaled up to 10,000 tons in 2013.

The facility is under the master plan on petroleum store and port system approved by state-owned oil monopoly PetroVietnam group for the 2006-2010 period, including LPG depots in Haiphong, Ha Tinh and Danang City.

Between January and April, Vietnam spent US$121 million on importing 227,000 metric tons of LPG. (Investment)
