Vietnam Reports 9.7 Mln New Telephone Subscribers in Jan-Apr: GSO

Vietnam signed up an additional 9.7 million new phone subscribers in the first four months of this year, a rise of 55.8% over the same period in 2007, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
 
The country had a total of 89.1 million telephone subscribers by end-April.
 
The total revenues of Vietnam’s post and telecommunication sector reached VND24.4 trillion ($1.4 billion) during the period, up 22% on year.
 
By end-March, the nation had 86.8 million telephone subscribers, 6.7 million Internet subscribers with nearly 21 million users, making up 24.5% of the population.
 
There are seven mobile networks in Vietnam namely VinaPhone, MobiFone and Viettel S-Fone, EVN Telecom, HT Mobile and GTel. (Investment)
