Vietnam should not license more new airlines from now to 2015 to ensure the sustainable development of the aviation sector, according to a senior of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV).

Deputy Head of CAAV, Lai Xuan Thanh made his proposal at the seminar on measures to help the domestic aviation sector to weather the global turmoil, which was held in Hanoi May 20.

Currently, Vietnam has five airlines including Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, Vietjet Air, Indochina Airlines and Mekong Airlines and only Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific and Indochina Airlines are operational. (New Hanoi, Pioneer)
