Chinese Firm Wins US$305.57 Railway Contract in Vietnam

China Railway No.6 Group has won a US$350.57 million contract to build an urban railway route in Hanoi.
 
Under the contract, the Chinese company will design and build the railway route which will be 13 km long and include 12 stations. 
 
It will also provide electric equipment, 52 railway cars, construct viaducts and railway stations within a five-year phase.
 
The route starting from Hanoi’s downtown center to Ha Dong district to the southwest will cost around US$552.9 million for the construction, with 85 per cent from China’s loans.
 
Construction will begin within this year and be completed by 2014, Vietnam News Agency said. 
 
The Vietnamese prime minister has approved a plan to mobilize a total investment of US$15 billion for metro projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City by 2020. (Investment)
