Vietnam to Check Generally Leather & Footwear Sector’s Development

The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said it would cooperate with the Ministry of Planning And Investment and the Government Office to check the footwear sector’s development plan till 2010 in localities.
 
However, the ministry has not yet released the specific time of general check.
 
The investigation will aim to serve the industry’s development strategy till 2020 and a vision to 2025 as well as to assess impacts of the current economic slowdown to shoemakers and exporters.
 
Inspectors will keep their eye on production capacity; competitiveness and technological investment of enterprises operating in the sector in each locality.  
 
Vietnam footwear industry has set a target to reach export turnover of US$6.2 billion by 2010 and US$11.47 billion in the next five years. (Capital Security, Pioneer)
