Australia Pledges US$85.28M Aid Funds for Vietnam by June 30 2010
The government of Australia has pledged AUD105.9 million (US$85.28 million) of aid funds for Vietnam for the fiscal year starting July 1 of 2009 and ending June 30 next year, the Communist Party of Vietnam said on its Website Thursday.
Of the pledged funds, Australia will fund AUD28 million (US$22.57 million) for the key transportation projects in Vietnam to link rural areas to key economic zones, particularly in Mekong Delta region.
The funds will also be used to help Vietnam fulfill the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and cope with HIV/AIDS, human trafficking, transnational crimes, corruption and gender equality. (CPV)
