The fifth International Automobile and Supporting Industries Exhibition and Conference opened in Hanoi June 10, attracting more than 100 automakers from 40 countries and territories worldwide.
Vietnam Auto Expo 2009 is aimed to promote purchasing power amid the gloomy market and create opportunities for businesses to seek trade partners and boost cooperation, said the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Thanh Bien
Various latest car models of many world-renowned brands, including BMW, Audi, Volvo and Huyndai, are on display at the event, which will last until June 16 with over 500 large showrooms.
The star attraction at the center of this year’s motor show is Germany’s Audi with the introduction of the deluxe models Q7 and A8L.
Vietnam Auto Expo 2009 also has an area with over 100 stalls for the support industry.
Together with products from China, India, Thailand and Taiwan, spare parts from Vietnamese manufacturers like Casumina, Tia sang batteries, GS, FAG, SPf, Dennso, Boss, Viet-Han and Hanoi plastic were showcased.
Vietnam is a potential market for auto businesses, said Laurent Genet, a representative of Germany’s Audi auto firm and also General Director of the Asian Auto Co., Ltd, adding that his company plans to introduce high-end car models suitable to the market.
It also intends to open a showroom in Hanoi in September, after its first successful one in Ho Chi Minh City. (Vietnam & World Economy)
