Vietnam to Open Rice Festival 2009 in November
The Rice Festival Vietnam 2009 will take place November 26 to 28 in Mekong Delta Hau Giang province, local state media reported, citing the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), a member of the organizing board.
Hau Giang province, VFA and the Southern Food Corporation (Vinafood 2) will coordinate the festival.
The festival will hold a series of activities, including traditional rice festivities, an expo on high-quality rice varieties especially developed for specific localities, seminars on rice exports and ceremonies to honor the best rice exporters and farmers.
The event is aimed to introduce Vietnamese rice trademarks and promote rice exports.
In addition, the festival will offer a great chance for the locality to introduce local natural beauty and special agricultural products to international and domestic visitors, said Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Trinh Quang Hung. (
