Vietnam Boosts Parliamentary Ties with Russia, Lithuania
A delegation of Vietnam’s National Assembly Committee for External Relations, led by Deputy Head Ngo Duc Manh, visited Russia and Lithuania from June 22-27 to boost the legislative ties.
In Russia, the delegation met with officials of the Russian State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee and the Russian Federation Council and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral inter-parliamentary relations and cooperation.
The two sides have agreed to create a stable political-legal environment for bilateral investment and direct cooperation between their provinces and cities.
Vietnam shipped US$108.7 million of goods to Russia in the first four months of this year, down 64.7 per cent on-year. The two countries targeted to raise bilateral trade to US$3 billion in 2010 and US$10 billion in 2015.
During their stay in Lithuania from June 25-27, the Vietnamese delegates and officials from Lithuania’s National Assembly External Relations Committee, the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Transport and the Law Research Institute discussed solutions for restoring the friendship and bilateral cooperation.
Lithuania also asked Vietnam to sponsor the ASEM transport meeting to be held in its capital Vinius in October and to support its candidacy for the general director position of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). (Capital Security)
